I just bought 2 new boards. One is a 8-6 PU Longboard that is 22" wide, 2-7/8" thick, and glassed at 6+6/6, with a gloss finish and weighs 16.4 lbs.
The other is a 6-4 EPS Epoxy Fish (tri-fin hybrid) that is 21" wide, 2-1/2" thick, and glassed with 8oz hex cloth all the way around, with a gloss finish & “acid wash” color added, and weighs about 10 lbs. (It was made using Resin Research epoxy)
I realized after getting the long board I’d rather have gotten one at 2-1/2" thick. So my questions are:
How much weight would 3/8" take off a 8-6 board?
How much weight would 6+6/6 glass add vs, say, 6+4/6?
How much weight would the gloss add to either of these boards?
And is it not crazy that the EPS Epoxy Fish would turn out to be 10 lbs?!
And is one layer of 8 oz cloth around the Fish strange?
