New epoxy sanding technique

This should really be in the “epoxy tips” thread, but here it is (also testing a new organic dust mask from AF industries in NZ):

Hello, MrBloke…

I fell asleep watching him sand after a minute.

If I worked that slowly, it’d take 24 hours to sand my boards.

As is, I take about 40 minutes, working about 7 times faster.

Hello Mr Lee, great to hear from you.

Regarding the sanding technique, we slowed the action down several times so that the full technique can be observed. . . . . the real trick to it (as I am sure you know already) is that it is a VIBE thing, and if it’s too fast it goes blurry and sounds like the Chipmunks.

Glad to hear that you fell asleep after only a minute !

Regards,

Roy

PS We ARE a day ahead of you, and you can’t catch up !

PPS Even in realtime we take seveeral weeks or months to sand a board, we like to savour the experience. . . . . no need to be hasty Hoom Hoom.

Well… I liked the music (waterboys) and the video was colorful enough, but the technique didn’t seem new to me. Sanding back and forth in a straight line by hand is something I am pretty sure has been done before…

Yes Keith, you are correct, but the new technique is all about the VIBE

and of course the new mask from A F Industries

Happy Tomorrow !

That extra day should give you plenty of time for sanding.

I love you, man.

The feeling is mutual Benny.

It’s not just a technique, its an attitude . . . Once you get past that, the vibe becomes very apparent. I heart wooden surfboards.

Howzit Keith, I’ll take my Makita over hand sanding any time.Aloha,Kokua

I was too cheap to buy a power sander, and being a skinny runt, thought the exercise could only help my physique.

Mostly brought a couple of boards down to the beach, armed with a 11x6 sanding block, two sheets of 50, two 80, and two 120 for each board, and go to town.

After sanding, just jump into the water for some body surfing in trunks and 54 degree waters…and 58 degree airs.

I got a power sander from Harbor Freight for $30

All depends upon whether you prefer VIBES or VIBRATIONS

i sanded my latest board in the rain by hand

with diamond pads

it was fairly quick

no dust

and cool work

Very nice clip Roy - well done. (Have no idea why my writing is so big - something to do with a 10 year old) I get the vibe - and my short atention span had no trouble with the whole 3+ mins.
