New foam brand?

Hi all. For the last two years, I have been using either US Blanks or Arctic Foam. (I used to get australian Burford Blanks too, but my retailer does not import them anymore). Just yesterday, I got hold of a “Millenium Foam” blank and I never heard of this brand… Anyone has any experience with this brand? How would you say it compares to Us Blanks and Arctic? Of course I’ll shape the blank and see for myself but I would appreciate any feedback from you. So?

The  BAIR was a MDI formula MANUFACTURER however problematic.

This same factory has updated the formula to TDI (more stable)

Similar to the old KING MAC formula.

We are down to 3 PU Foam producers who make surfboard blanks (“California”)

MILLENNIUM

ARCTIC

US BLANKS

CURRENTLY NO PROBLEMS WITH ANY OF THEM.

Hi Surfding! Thanks for the fast reply; one of my friends decided to import a full container of those so I just picked one (6’11’’ F) to try it out. Not bad to have three or four really good brands to choose from.

Haven’t had any problems over here with Millenium.

SD  —Bair or Blair??    Ghetto------  If You’ve been using them??  What is their contact and where can they be found??

I’ve had quite a few boards built in Millenium foam, and no problems what so ever. Super white, good density, but can tear a little if you go too fast with the planer…

The ones I get milled come out clean too, and seems to have a good finished weight, and density.

Blair sorry I only have one arm at the moment.

Monday the cast is removed so no more excuses.

One hand typing sucks!

Arctic and millennium both blown in Mexico…USB is the only one blown here in Cali keeping it truly American made.

Figured that's what you meant.  So did you get that operation??  How's the recovery and prognosis??  Blair was so underground you needed a shovel to find 'em.  These guys seem to be the same.  Found links but no contact info,  Foam sounds like typical King-Mac.  Which is OK,

Hi McDing:

The Doctor added a plate and screws to my arm to make it heal straight.

Today he put a new cast for the next 2 weeks.

The new cast is smaller so not as bad as the bigger one after the surgery.

We have plenty of foam these days.

Less worry!

Kind regards,

surfding

Hi McDing:

Operation was the way to go. (arm was healing bent and slow)

I’m healing faster now. (in a soft cast and arm is straight)

Today I scanned a board without help.

Concerning foam:

I use mostly US Fitted rocker blanks.

I keep a stock of Blair for rushes and It glasses up well without any shrinkage.

Blair makes them and the PU seems to be just like the KING MAC formula.

So we have US BLANKS, ARCTIC and Blair for PU all TDI.

All three companies are doing a good job.

Customer Service wise US BLANKS is the leader.

The MDI was full of problems. (Glad were over it!)

Been super busy lately.

This as been the busiest pre-winter season since 2008.

Kind regards,

surfding

Don’t mean to hijack a thread, but while your talking about foam, Has anyone heard of or used South Coast Australia blanks? My local shop here in Fl. has a bunch of them. I bought one and it seems like pretty crisp foam, stringer seemed a little hard compared to the us blanks I am accustomed too. Just wondering if any of you pros have a review of it. I can’t find anything in the archives. Thanks, Mitch
