New Movie being put together with Greenough, Brian Hilbers to name a few.

Check out this short Clip of what is in the works

Enjoy my friends Mahalo,Larry

sandwhich time, larry allesnon…

So they’re making a pitch to get people to fund their movie?  Looks like a good movie I’d spend $ to own or go watch.  But, not finance.  I wonder if I can put something like that together to finance my daughters overpriced college educations?  Damn Larry, I’d just like to know how to buy some of your fins… Mike

a movie about fins

 ** long **overdue !!

Look forward to hopefully one day seeing the finished product  !

I always remember what a guy I surfed with said once

" fins don’t really make THAT much difference , DO they ? "

[ he was actually SERIOUS ?!]

greg griffin better get an interview

now days everyone wants to get paid…theaters…reps…stars…etc.

the world is so diverse that it’s really hard to get something like this off the ground.

i wish and hope for my friend george that it all works out in the end…i know how much hard work it is.

btw… gg… weaver says ,“hi”…herb

I think they already have blinders on.    They should be interviewing Phil Edwards too.      I’m sure they don’t know that the first 2 + 1, ‘‘modern’’  tri fin was done in 1964.    Or that the first removable side bites were done in 1970, and did not require tools, screws, or plates.     Sad that ignorance and misinformation will be promoted as factual history.

yup bill,

but if you look at the history of …it seems to do that all the time…they are missing someone great if they don’t interview you…the new secret fin could make it’s debute !

herb

blinders? really? do think there is really some fin-specific agenda with what this guy is doing? just contact the guy and spill your knowledge instead of grumping about how ignorant you think they are. they’re clearly in the early stages of the project and will probably learn a ton along the away as they interview people. help them learn.

Watch the ‘‘promo’‘and you’ll see that the film is already scripted.     I get no sense that there is a desire to ‘’… learn a ton along the way…’’     They’re looking for funding, not looking to change the script.      So, yes, blinders.    Really.

Hydrodynamica looked like an interesting story, but it never got finished.

yep unfinished,but poinient nonethe less

quintessential = the fifth element

tapping the 5 th element

like tapping your toe

to a jazz riff or a

ab’riginal chant.

I agree with Bill 100% this time.  The film is already scripted with the same yahoo’s ready to beat their chests once again and claim it. Reconstituted lukewarm dog crap to be fed to the bewildered herd mired at the trough.  Wow I am supposed to care about this, really?  You can see it at these events where “surfstars” claim their celebrity, over and over, and over.  When its all said and done, the fiim maker is the flim-flam man, and the goats are lead to sacrifice.  WAKE UP SHEEPLE.

A close friend who’s been surfing since the 50’s and knows as much about fins as anyone, after watching the vimeo clip quipped,

“That’s what we get when an East Coast bodysurfer makes a movie about Surfboard fins…”

That said, if he can get GG talking about ANYTHING, I’m listening…

Hey all!

First off thanks Larry for posting this and getting the conversation going. That’s what the film is all about. Raising the level of awareness around the importance of the fin and celebrating how it - and its innovators - are the driving forces in surfing.

If ayone has questions about the film, my intentions, or the process of crowdfunding on Kickstarter, please ask me! On the latter - please be aware that backers get some pretty amazing art in return. You’re not just handing me money.

And just to be clear, this is a passion project. I’m making this movie because I’ve been obsessed with the ocean since I was a kid, and surfing since high school. Its a way to bring my passions for the ocean storytelling together. I’m not claiming to be an expert on fins - I just want to help tell the story of them.

The project page is here: http://bit.ly/finproject Please make comments and share the site, because without support from guys like you, the story of the fin wont get told.

Talk soon, and feel free to call me on my cell. My number is 917.751.0358.

Moring Gents…

Thought I’d also post a link to my main website at www.theFINproject.net, so you can see a bit more of the artwork and behind-the-scenes to the project.

There’s no adgenda here, just enthusiasm for surfing and the fin. And no, its not scripted. When you’re pitching to make a film - you have to have some idea of where you’d like to go with the story. Then the story unfolds and evolves as you explore.

Let me know if you guys have questions!

Cheers,

Tim

p.s. Ambrose… we met a few years ago when I was out in Kauai around New Years… time flies, hope you’re well.
