New wooden board

Hi Rohan

I like the idea, keep us posted on how your progress goes.

Like Jase I’m wondering how you’re going to get the curves and angles as you approach the nose and tail.

G’luck!

Tom

RDM - same concern as others expressed, bending deep strips of wood will be difficult in your concept. You will probably have to break up the large strips into smaller strips to get them to bend properly. Depending on the shape of nose and tail, you might need to block instead of strip.

Also, you should start another thread with your concept to board pictures so that PARTSBILL can continue his progress pics without interruption…

Apologies to PARTSBILL for interrupting - my thread ettiquete is far below average I know. But in answer to your questions. I will either use small strips (say 7mm x 7mm cross section) that will be easier to bend in two axis. Or cut the approximate rocker/planshape into the wider strips so I only have to bend the strips along the easier to bend axis. Either method will require “finishing” the edges back flush to the appropriate angles on the cross section ribs. Mind you I haven’t tried this yet - it’s all just in my head at the moment.

Sorry again PARTSBILL.

Your progress is looking great and is motivating me to not leave my project sitting.

Cheers

Rohan
