Funny, this is exactly what I was thinking. He’s probably already in the “I surrender” mode. From the looks of it he already went through something gnarly to be where he is. Man, that was surely a severe upside down, inside out blender ride he took…

The general consensus at Mavericks seems to be that it’s better to take the beating close to the surface. The reasoning is - your getting pummled anyway… no matter how deep you go, you can’t get away - so if you’re up high, you’ll get pushed in as you go through the washing machine. When the next round comes, you’ll be in a mellower spot… until you get pushed into the rocks… then you’re really hosed.

hes ether thinking “oh sh*t” or “what was i thinking”

and i thought 8ft was big

I’d rather actually go over Niagra in a barrel than be where he is. At least I’d have a barrel full of air to breathe.

How in he world can someone survive something like that? Hats off to the the crazy guys (and girls) who do that sort of stuff. I’ll just watch, and wax philosophical about surfing small “soulful” waves.

Doug

How bad could it be? Considering a 17-second interval, it’d all be over with fairly soon.

Wait! What’s that feathering wall in the upper right of the pic? The next one?

never mind…

I knew a guy who drove his jet ski over Niagra Falls. His rocket propelled parachute deployed, but was not attached to his body. He didn’t survive to learn the lesson. Pack your own chute.

I once asked Peter how he holds his breath at Mavericks. He said “You just do.”.

Or else…
