I put this in the hookup section, but as everone knows… Nobody ever looks there. Maybe this thread will plant some seeds, then when folks are ready to jump in they can refer back to the post on the hookup section. I’m sure in five months it will still be on the first page there. 
I’m posting this waaaaay in advance, in the hopes that some folks might be interested in the hookup.
My planned Ecuador trip with the wife fell through, due to some promises made by her new job not being kept… That’s another story altogether… Douchebags… Anyway…
So, I’m making a surf trip by myself. I just bought my ticket (only $361 R/T from san antonio-nicaragua!) for august 2-12. I’ll be booking a reservation at http://www.loscardones.com Looks like a nice little place with waves in walking distance. No frills (A/C, flush toilets), but all the essentials (good food, consistent and empty waves, rides to/from airport, beer included). Best of all, it’s pretty inexpensive. I’m looking at about $813 for 8D/7N all included. The kicker is, if some more people jump in with me, the surfcamp price goes down a LOT! With two people booking it goes to $543 per person for a week, with three people it goes to $495, etc… So if some other folks can get a deal on tickets like I just did, then we’d all be looking at a solid week of surf trip for under a grand. Not to mention some sweet sways camaraderie.
I’m thinking I should be able to book my reservation under the assumption that it’ll be single occupancy, then if I get more people in my party it’ll go to the double-oc rate. I emailed them and am just waiting to hear back on this, but they seem like a laid-back crew and I don’t anticipate they’ll fight against the prospect of getting more people. I’m hoping any additional people will be able to just say, “I’m in the Shwuz party” to get the multi-rate.
I’m thinking I’ll arrive Managua the 2nd, and arrange to be picked up early AM on the 3rd to be my first day. Then back to Managua on the evening of the 11th to fly out early AM on the 12th. Wait, that makes nine days, eight nights… Hmmm, well if I get some other people on this deal then I can afford the extra day!
I looked just a little, and there are tickets out of LAX for the same dates for $441 right now, miami has a flight for (holy crap!) $278, New York has the same $361 deal that I got, etc… The point is, it’s a very reasonable trip if you can afford to plan this far ahead.
Anyway, just thought I’d throw this out there… I think this would be a really (REALLY) cool way to meet some fellow swayfolk.
