Nickel and dime...

In the spirit of the Low Tech Lab Thread: http://www2.swaylocks.com/forums/random-photos-low-tech-lab …

Just spreading the stoke…

To start with, here’s something for Ben, Greg Griffin template bamboo twins using Greenlight’s Probox panel:

And fixing some dinged up Probox fins…

Howzit Lavarat,It was 118 F in Havasu today, kind of like living in an oven. Aloha,Kokua

The Smoking Tent Lab!!!!!

Hahaha, I like it Ray!

Nickel and dime refers to my area code and my budget =) but, I like The Tent Lab.

Bottom lam on. Narrowly avoided disaster I hope. The resin started smoking! Had to mix up some extra resin on the fly. Now, I’m questioning my ratio…

Hope it comes out. I’ll know in a couple hours. =P

Good vibes Chris!

My shop is The Low Tech Lab....It has alot to do with my real High Tech job and my Low tech brain.

Keith is the Lower tech lab , Jay is East County, Mike is the Rat Turd Lab, AFOF has the South Bay Lab and Durbs is lost some where between LA and the Central Coast. John Mellor never named his workshop but he's a Low Tech super star.....Claim it and name it!  Tim is a troll working under the bridge....you are TentCity right now........maybe you are the Tent Lab?....The San LeAnn tent Lab!!!!

Hahaha, thanks Mark =)

No, embarrassed.  And when Boeing adds spackle as a bonder to the composite parts of the 777, I’ll admit my error.  Until then, nice board Chris. = )

Thanks Beerfan! I’ve never surfed a twin before so hopefully, I don’t screw it up.

Right on Ian! Hahaha, what a difference a bay makes

Nice Chris!

Mean while in across the bay it is 60F and I am warming up my epoxy.

Working on a 6’6" right now too.

Nice work mate, keen to see finished pics. Twin huh?, oh yeah!!

Thanks Mike, space is paramount!.. I have to move the bikes, motorcycle, kids toys, plants, etc. off the deck just to make room to glass =D… Hahaha, my face is red about the spackle, where’s the edit button? Is there still time to delete that??? hahaha … The new board is supposed to be a twin using those bamboo fins (there are 2 sets in the pics). Hopefully I don’t screw them up… Yup, HOT! Weather.com says it’s 76* in San Leandro right now. I just checked inside my tent and it’s 110*. I’m going to have to wait a few hours before mixing resin. In the meantime, I’ve got plenny chores to do around the house. =)

I really like your glassing extensions, crisp. Good idea and solution to space issues.  Hah!  Aren’t we supposed to be ‘ashamed’ to still use spackle? Which fins are going on the new board?  Hot in there! Mike

A couple falls ago at one of my favorite spots:

Another spot:

Spackeld a couple days ago. Thoroughly dry. Into the glassing tent:

Prepped:

Roadblock:

6’6" shortboard blank:

Outlined:

A little deck concave where my front foot will go. I’ve never tried it before:

Concave in the front:

My attempt at “slight vee” off the tail:

Lam came out good! Whooo, I was sweatin’ that one…

Tape off the bottom right up to the edge of the “tuck”.

More tape and paper to cover the bottom. I don’t know if this is necessary but, I’ve never done a cutlap of any kind before.

I double taped the rails.

Cork and tape and in the bag…

Out of the bag, pull up the tape it worked great! Whoo, I was sweatin’ that one too…

Sand the bottom flat at the edges…

Nose and tail didn’t quite do what I wanted them too…

So, some 5 minute epoxy and quality 3M 233 tape…

SWEET!

Prepped for deck glass…

Gonna wait for it to drop a few degrees…

Looks really good!

Forgive my back seat driving, but since you are going stringerless, add additional bands of cloth in the rear rail areas to stiffen it up.

I’m currently rebuilding some boards because without it, too much drive is lost.
