Non allergenic epoxy

Anybody tried Eco Epoxy Resin with okume, balsa and/ or XPS?

I emailed them, and they told me since it has no amines, t’s apparently hypoallergenic…? If it’s been discussed on another thread, I’m all eyes-

Apparently it cures green!

Sounds interesting but I still wouldn’t use it without proper safety equipment. You never know what’s going to happen over a period of time. There’s other “eco” resins that cure clear that aren’t necessarily branded as eco friendly. Here are a couple.

-Entropy bio resins

Thanks- I’m just allergic enough to epoxy (like WEST) that I’ve been messing with Titebond III for example, but it does take an order of magnitude jump in fitting accuracy to get good joints, and it doesn’t do anything with XPS to wood in large areas.

When you say there are “eco” resins that are not branded as such, you are saying that they are actually kind of eco resins?

I must admit that taking the proper precautions with epoxy make it almost as fiddly as not using epoxy…

For instance, we could say that our Aluzine is “Eco” friendly but that turns a lot of people off when you do that, so we don’t. We also sell Entropy resins which has an “eco” friendly resin that is clear so there are plenty of options out there. Just need to find the one that works for your application.

West System as far as sensitivity issues is like Lye Soap compared to “the surfboard epoxies” being like Aveeno or some other sensitive skin soap. When I say I have used Surfboard specific epoxies for 20 years without a problem and while I am not officially sensitized to West just being near it makes my skin crawl and my eyes itch.  My exerience has been with Resin Research and GreenRoom but I understand the FG HI stuff is good too.  Not saying not to use protection if you feel it necessary but the protection is even more effective when the “stuff” is tamer.  Not dishing on the quality of West at all but its just the nature of the beast.

My 2 cents.
