Just a quick little quiz, surf related.     There is one Sway-member, that I told the answers to, and he cannot participate.      Everyone else can.     (1)    What was the first name that CHUNS was known by, before it was known as CHUNS.       (2)     What was the original name of the surf break, now known as ALLIGATORS?      That will do to start the conversation.       What say you?

I seem to remember a Hawaiian friend telling me that the name for Chuns was something like  ,   kauimania  ,  I hope I did not mangle the spelling too badly , no idea about alligators

Hmmmm.      Never heard that one before.        while that may be the ‘‘real’’ name, I’m asking what the invading coast haoule’s called it, late '50’s to very early '60’s.      By about '63 or '64, it had bocome Chun’s.       The early name was…what?

I never surfed Armahut, but seem to remember that it was between Sunset and Pipeline.      So, not the correct answer.     Thanks for making a run at it.

As I recall, Arma Hut was just past Pupukea along the stretch near Gas Chambers.

Chuns to me was always about the fresh cold water pools to wash off and hot black rocks to lay on and dry off after surfing Lani’s
