Nose Concave

I understand that nose concave helps a great deal with nose riding, but what does it do on the thinner, lighter, shorter performance longboards? Does it hold the nose onto the face of the wave while trimming? Can anyone explain how the physics works here? Thanks for any insight.

Alex - Tom Morey published this little kitchen trick in an old magazine. Try taking a spoon and while lightly gripping the end of the handle between your thumb and index finger, try running a full blast stream of water from the faucet and let the convex side of the spoon touch the water stream. It sucks right into it right? Now, try pushing the concave side of the spoon into the water stream. It pushes back. This demonstrates better than words the effect of concave and convex surfaces in contact with water flow.
