Nose keel board - what?

,p>A friend came across a picture of one of these and pointed it out. Looks funky but neither of us understand the function and I wondered if anyone here did.

No real details to them, other than nose keel.

I did a quick google of nose keel surfboard and that page was the first result with nothing else of note after.

Is it a bodyboard /  bellyboard designed to be used prone? Kneeboard?

Seems quite unique but it may just be my ignorance of other makes.

Thanks!

I do not know what it is designed for.

To me it looks like something to be ridden on the rail, turing off the tail seems impossible to me.

Therefore, my guess is that it’s meant to go straight down the line in prone position, or maybe standing up on the nose.

That is definitely outside accepted norms in design. I could see it being ridden prone, and requiring the rider to move around on it like those motorcycle side car racers were the person on the sidecar is climbing around  the vehicle like a monkey in turns to influence center of gravity.

Hard to imagine even the most ‘front footed’ of surfers being able to ride this design, but would certainly give it a go if asked to

Aaah, glad its not just me that doesn’t understand it!

I reckon the fins are in the wrong way, turn them around and you could ride it as a wide tail lazer zap style ???

These boards appeared a few years ago at one of our “Surfing Art by Shapers” show in Hossegor. Quite a lot of eyes-turning and minds-boggling then but since nobody ever heard of them ever since, I can assume that it was just one of those easy “coups” so that people talk about you… Don’t even remember who made those, some guy in Spain maybe?

They make other, more usable boards. And they look really nice too.
