noserider blank eskimo

hey guys I am buying an eskimo 9'9 blank and I was hoping to shape a noserifer out of it. I was planning to flip the blank as there is a lot of nose rocker in the blank .

I guess I would need to rework the rocker so that the rocker center is just behind the template center. I was hoping to keep the nose rocker around 3   and tail aound 4 1/2 with quite a flip in the last 18 inches

there will be a pinched 50/50 rails nose concave  into a strong rolled vee. though to the tail

what are your thoughts on using this blank flipped will the rocker work reversed with some tweeking? I have had a searched on sways and got some good info but anyways what your imput

thanks guys

If you don’t take too much foam out of it I’d say you’ll be fine.

First off, always measure your rocker from the center of the shape.

This should never change.  Where your wide point is, is up to you.

Also, this blank has a lot of overall forward rocker in it which would

not necessarily make it a good nose rider.  If you can order it with your

own rockers, do that first before you decide to flip it.  Tail rocker for noseriders

in generally in the last 24" of the shape.  If you are doing a size under

9'9, and taking off the difference off the nose once you flip it, you should

be ok.  There are a lot of threads on Sways about good noserider dims,

so read them.  Also, a shallow concave to a flat or mild belly then vee in

the tail will ride better and will surf better in various conditions.  Just my

2C, but I've shaped quite a few....

hey guys thanks for the imput so far. I was planning to have the board length be around 9'4 to 9'2 so as you said i caan cut some of the nose and that will help me reduce the tail rocker when i flip the blank

thanks for the tip on the bottom shape i will keep searching on sways for info.

here is a pic of the bottom of the 1st and so far only noserider i have shaped that had a nose concave into a rolled vee

cheers antony

tail shape

My take also, the nose rocker will fall too much toward center to use as a tail rocker, knock down the nose rocker from the deck, shape on the tail rocker on bottom, don’t run passes all the way to the tip of the nose ( thin behind the nose).

You’ll wind up with a board that still has good nose riding and not be limited.

Shrosbee, did a board for Joe Arron, flipped the blank around, Joe brought the board back, said it felt like he ws always paddling uphill
