imagine how good those back hand off the tops would have been if he had been riding a 6'4 round pin thruster.
Yes - but the vid shows high performance surfing on a board that supposedly occupies no man's land.
Most people in the 230 lb + range wouldn't catch a wave on a 6 4 unless it were a super wide fish, but a well designed big guy short board would suit a fair few of them....doncha think?
I like NO man's land, there’s less people in the water, ha…Thanks! I feel better about my 6-10”
Hey duke, me too, i like "No mans land" haha. Im 5'9'' and 80kg ( 190lb? ), but i like longer wider thicker. A shortboard for me would be around 6'10'' ( im thinking of making one ). Don't know why, don't know how, but they're just the kind of boards i like. I can paddle shorter thinner wider, but just dont enjoy them, and dont ride them very well.Even my keel fish is 6'2'' x 22.
I wouldn't mind that 7'0''!
P.S and yeah, lets not forget the fact that Tom carrol is surfing that board!
well i ride a 6’8 as my go to shorti.
but then i am a big guy(6’3 200lbs)
i could prob go with a 7’4 and ride it just fine. i love how the 6’8 paddles compared to my 6’3
Im 230lbs.......
and some of my boards.........people say are HUGE
CI skinny keel fish 6’-6” 22” 2 9/16
CI M4 6-10” 21 ¼ 3
Campbell bros 5fin 6’-10” 20 ½ 2 ¾
GG thruster 7’-2” 21 ¼ 3”
Ya man, I’m about same as you. Ride same sizes, and they all work really well for me. I have a 6’10" that I had Todd Proctor shape, its done in his Ti series epoxy, had 5 fin boxes installed and when talking with him, I brought up the rusty desert island board that was a 7’6" that I rode a lot back in the day and wanted something as versitile, but even more so. GOt to say that 6’10" he made me is my rally board. I grab that board and my fin wallet and thats all I need.

Yeah mate there are a few guys in the 100kg range around here riding high performance thrusters in the 6'8 to 7'6 range and they rip. Boards for you body size is where its at.
