Not bad for a 1st attempt i thought!

So i made an impulse buy a couple of years ago. The board was fun to ride, but its lime green, neon 80’s color scheme always made me feel a bit weird. (Since I’m the type whose goal is to surf competently enough to be INconspicuous!)

Now it is “tastefully understated” and I love it. i have been working on the art, fixing a couple of dings, and touching up the paint when needed for about 6 months and have learned a lot in the process. i like the copper and dark purple colors together and came up with a way to get a “mottled” look. I used both Montana cans and Posca pen on the sanded hotcoat, then got it sealed with a 2-part automotive clear coat. The guy who sealed it didn’t do the rails for some reason tho, so I have worked with some hotcoating and sanding there.

Only bummer is that one of the side bites got knocked out and lost on a super kelpy low tide session. Currently waiting for a replacement from Futures - it’s one of the “leader fins” for a Twinzer actually, with just one small tab, and no shops carry them. Since all the other boards I ride are single fins, I like this one much better with a center fin box and side bites than than i did as a Twinzer.

How do I get rid of the duplicate images? Thought I deleted them before posting.

very cool, love the antique copper look, and the (Japanese?) symbols!

Thanks Huck! In the process of searching for images of fish, I came across info on the art of fish printing in Japan, called 'gyotaku". The fish is hand-drawn but intended to look like this type of printing and the Japanese characters say “gyotaku”.

Thanks Chrisp for making these show up more easily!
