Wondered if you could share your thoughts on this wood board with a notch tail and the parabolic tail curve. Does this board pass the authenticity sniff test? Were notch tails and parabolic tail curves common in the early- and mid-1900s? I am not in the market for the item but am curious.
Not even close. Not nearly as vintage or valuable as they think.
Do you think they’d take $5 for it?
This one has a real funky odor too.
I have seen a very old vintage board with slightly parabolic rails but I’m calling BS on this attempt at skullduggery and honestly Rod, I thought you’d know better.
…does the seller have a company registered in Panama ?
If any of you have an ebay account, we should flood this guy with questions about the board and act like we’re really interested.
String him along for a bit, then call him on this fraud.
;^} ;^} ;^}
I just sent 'em a question.
While on there I found another doozy.
The descriptions are hilarious.
ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE 1920’S WOODEN SURFBOARD EXTREMELY RARE ORIGINATES FROM HAWAII
Looks like Doug fir plywood.
Bwa Ha Ha Ha!!!~
Q: That really is an awesome looking board. Very interested. I think that one may have belonged to David Keulana. Great piece of history.Apr-09-16
A: Yes, thank-you…many inquiries about the board so if you are serious about purchasing, I wouldn’t wait.
Mako,
You do have a cruel streak! Don’t you know, you shouldn’t tease crazy people? Shame on you.
Be sure and as it it poly or epoxy.
Can you post some close up pics of the inscription? Also can you tell if the finish is epoxy or polyurethane? Polyurethane came out in the 1940s. If its epoxy it could be a really early board.
On the flip side occasionally on eBay you find a gem. Just came across this late 80s or early 90s Linden that would have been one of Todd Holland’s boards. The seller doesn’t even know it. Shame it’s been buckled and repaired but still a good find.
LOL, now don’t be so grumpy, uncle
Funny.
I actually worked on that board.
Either airbrushed it or finned it.
Or both.
If I had more room for boards I’d pay $250 for one of Todd Holland’s boards.
I miss the days when pros had distinctive quivers of airbrushed boards.
Ok Barry, that is funny.
So did any of you bid on it yet???
