O.K. it's your fault

Hello this is my favorite site bar none I’ve never shaped a board but have surf quite a while own long and short boards but now I can not stand it any longer I just called my Buddy he has a little shack in his back yard that he shapes in and he said I can use it anytime he will help me along the way. Anyway he said get dimentions I want to shape an egg I’m thinking 7’6" x 22" x 3" Thuster set up, But how wide at nose and tail and how much rocker nose and tail I want it to a fairly loose more short board that long I hope you can help. Once again this is you guy’s fault and I really want to thank you for that I have not been this excited about surfing in a while. Thanks J.B.

thinking 7’6" x 22" x 3" Thuster set up, But how wide at > nose and tail and how much rocker nose and tail I want it to a fairly > loose more short board that long I hope you can help. Once again this is > you guy’s fault and I really want to thank you for that I have not been > this excited about surfing in a while. Thanks J.B. Since it is your first, I would keep it simple – especially the rocker. If you can give up about an inch, get a 7’4" R + 1/4 tail (its pretty much the standard stock blank and can net out a 7’5") Clark Blank and plan to use the whole rocker length. Only change the rocker if the blank is off the published numbers. As for recommeded nose, middle and tail widths – your weight is key, as the great Noodle indicated. But, for a 22" wp – I like about a 13.5" to 14" nose and a 14 1/4 to a 14 1/2 tail. 7’4" R Blank makes a rock’n fun board – its my most used blank. Shine Shine http://users.leading.net/~shine

Try this. It would fit an average build male. It’s 7-6 long. Widths: .4" overlapped stern, 15" tail, 22" mid, 17.2" nose, .6" overlapped nose. Wide point is offset 2.2" forward of center. Tail rocker 3% of board length. Just a tad of progression. Nose rocker 4.25". Mid-board foam is 2.8" thick. Rail line .8" above bottom foam. Deck, crowned near rail - to flat in center. With only .2" of tail V and a low hard tail rail, this board would be a little less skatey than most shortboards, and a little less drivey than most eggs. I would ride a board like this with 2+1 fins. If you wanna try it get some roll paper, a long straightedge, a carpenter’s square, and an engineer’s scale and go at it. Good luck.
