I just picked up some great EPS blanks from Pacific Allied for cheap. I’ve be using their foam every once while for the past ten years and the products are great. I made my last fishing surfboard from the 12-6 SUP blank and I paid $287 last year. Now the blanks is $130. I picked up a few blanks and wanted to get more but my storage area is limited.
Here are the prices and you can down load the catalog from their website Call Debbie if interested…
I’m one of the old garage hacks who surfed and glassed/shaped personal (and friends) boards on the eastside of Oahu in 80’s; early 90’s. Fast forward 30 years later, been lurking for about a year and recently created a sway account. I now live in Hilo (and travel to Oahu/overseas often) and plan to shape/glass my first EPS surfboard and SUP (for Hilo Bay runs). This news of an EPS blank sale is a goodsend and got me to commit to the project.
If you have connections on Oahu, have them pick up the blanks for you or call Debbie and see if you can buy some with a credit card. I really don’t think the blanks will last at these prices.BTW, Debbie is originally from the Big Island so she will understand. Don’t forget to post pictures of your projects.
Thanks for the heads up. I went ahead and placed a pickup order (4 shortboards and 4 SUP blanks) which ended in a little talk story session down memory lane with Debbie (i.e. Old Pahoa - Kaimu). She mentioned they are stopping production of surfboard and SUP blanks which is too bad since they manufacture them on island. But, they’re still a reputable EPS source so I now have them in my contacts for other future EPS related projects.
I should add that the blanks come with PVC stringers. Which are okay with me since I’m looking for some flex quailities that would match a thicker shortboard (2.75 - 3" thick) build. Not sure how it’ll translate to a SUP since it’ll be my first time every shaping a SUP.
Thanks to Dennis, I bought several blanks from Pacific Allied. They are not going to stop making blanks, they are just not going to warehouse cut blanks anymore. Once the inventory is gone, they will cut after orders are placed and the customer may have to wait instead of being able to run down there an get one off the rack.
