okay , so I have read previously that twin keels were kinda ‘divided up’ into four fins [?in the same way as bonzer3s mutated to bonzer5s , I wonder ?]
so …
I thought , photographing a few of the fins I have floating around my flat …here’s some I hope to try …
good picks… nice comparisons… are those smaller, upright fins double or single foiled?
The matchup of the two fins to make a keel is pretty much a “cardard” quad concept, no? I believe the vectors don’t match up.
Anyone.
hi NJ !
they are all single foiled …so far…
to be continued …
I have some very small runners/ keel hybrids I am hanging out to try in four fin as well as widowmaker setups .
I have also been looking at my 7’ single fin lately …[for side plugs options , as my brother Simon did with an old Burford singley of his ]
cheers

I also am keen to make smaller ‘canard’ type fins [a la the rusty ‘c5’ little fins] , to use in FRONT of a bigger back fin . As in one of the previous shots above …
…well, I’ve been playing around with my cereal packets again lately [ still on the quads joining together to form a twin keel theme ]…
the small canard as a front side fin …
…as a back side fin …
…VERY small…er… ? “canards” ? / “turbocharghers” ??
I’d like to one day combine this back ‘shark’ fin with a small canard too …
Love your work chip!!!. I have a fin question for you, and others of course. The “sidebites” ( 2 1/2 x 2 3/4 ) i made up last week were supposed to go onto my old board. However, sadly, my old board is on its last legs, and it would be a waste to do anything more to it than retire it, it’s just too dinged, too stressed. So, i now have these small fins, and two side fcs plugs, and im looking at my twin keel fish. Can i “supercharge” it??, can i make a keelzer??. If so, where would i put the 2 single fcs plugs on my board??, right in front of the keels ??. And what effect, if any, would it have on my board??
Where should i put em ??. Im thinking just in front ot the keels, and the same toe. Maybe an inch on front??. Im thinking for it to work, the little fins need to “break” up the water flow to the keels??.
[this is only my opinion , and I am no expert , by any means ]
if you put in a few side plugs [in different positions] , you can move the front side ones further forward or back , as you like ? And you can also set them parallel with the existing keel / fin , OR with the stringer [and , BOTH , of course !]
my keels are at around 10" up on the ‘prawn’ , from memory , and around 6" up on the “bushfire” fish , so the side fins [at the front ] are at different distances with both those boards.
[Again , only me , personally] , but I DO like to have at least ONE of the fins at around the ‘thruster’ distance [something like 10-11" up]
it’s fun to play around with , as you will no doubt discover , Mark !
good on ya for experimenting , I say , mate !
most importantly… have FUN with it !!
okay …until next time I’m online …
cheers !
