I’m setting up to put a leash loop on a Lis-style fish, and it just looks too far forward if I put it in front of the buttcrack. I know it’d be farther from the tips than any railsaver would reach.
Has anyone ever put a leash attachment on a fish one pin or the other? What side would you put it on, and why?
I definitely wouldn’t put it in the middle. It’s too far from the pins, and the board would tombstone like a mother because of the tail width. Also, I like to put my back foot way back at times, and I hate standing on my legrope.
I put my loops on the righthand side (I’m regular), a little towards the center and quite far back. To me this is the best position, minimizing tombstoning, catching of legrope with back foot etc.
Most resin bridge-style leash loops I’ve seen are just in front of the butt crack on the board. They do tombstone though.
Whereas, I’ve seen plugs mostly on the right tail or the center.
I’ve always wondered about the recoil of the board from the leash if the plug/leash loop is offset to the side. I had a Tyler Fish with a plug to the side, and every time I would eat it, one of the pin tails would shoot back and hit me. Been to the ER because of this to get stitches.
I have a Brom and he puts it on the right side just even with the crack or a little more towards the tail(I am a goofy foot…) he asked my stance before putting it in. So a regular foot he would put on the left? My fish all have them in the middle…glass loops…they tombstone …but no biggie. I notice when the board happens to flip belly up…it slips through quite nicely. Have fun…
