Beautiful lines on that board, Herb. There’s a good reason I don’t own a board like that. Chicken shit. The twin you posted a couple of weeks ago is more my speed. I hope your building stuff for people, Herb. You got a thing called talent. It’s great to have you on here regular, too. Do you know the owner and if so, where was that board surfed? Mike
mike,
the gun pictured was donated to a surfline championship contest like in 2006 or 07 for the main raffle.
i wasn't present that year,but my guess is?????? it's a wallhanger now.
i rode that gun all over the place.
the most memorable was paddling out to the rockpile oilrig break a couple miles out to sea at sealbeach. it was a solid 16ft in the back that day.(dec.,1998).paddled out with fam.tim dorsey.got lucky and caught a ride back with a boat to the harbor(alamitos bay) that evening as the day turned to night.the next day i caught up to tim and some of the old school crew. he introduced me as the world's greatest surfer alive.I then commented how, i couldn't be the best, as he has a surf break named after him on the northshore of hawaii.we laughed and he said, no but for real herb you are in my opinion...........lol......great memories........the best...........just like here.
as far as the twin?????????? i'm still tracking that one down.............we'll let you know what's the skinny on that stick as it develops.

oh ya ......btw,
i'm not shaping much these days.
i see all you guys passing me up and realize i'm getting old..........lol.
but really,i don't have much free time to build.
i did send a long time customer over to a sways member, both seemed to be very happy with my decision.
and,i have several people waiting for boards.
i just revamped a 6-2 x 22-1/2 predator(fish outline) with3 fins and turned it into a 7 finner( a supercharged 5 ).
i took some of the fins chipper ben sent me and re-worked them into a template i like and came up with this configuration.
i rode it friday and got some great waves, and the board out preformed my best image of it.
i 'll test it some more, but when the guys on longboards are amazed at how well i could pick up waves and ride them down the line,it's pretty much a done deal.
got one exceptionally ride that re-plays in my mind..........like continuously.
hope all is good on your part of the planet, pet your dogs for me mike.
i'll do the same.

Cool story, Herb. Thanks for responding. Lost one of the dogs (my truck dog) to cancer this summer. I know you know how that goes. He’s becoming an oak tree. Down to four, now. Mike
i'll say my prayers for you.

Board looks sweet Herb, thanks for the post…
Rooster, sorry to hear that. Is that the dog that I met? My big guy will be 11 this year and I’ve seen him slow way down in the last couple years. The other day, I took him out to brush him and he stole my brush to play. So, I chased him and was able to catch him. I haven’t been able to catch him in a race since he was 6 months old. He’s having a rough time getting in and out of the car and going up the stairs too.
Glad your back, Herb. Let’s SURF!!!
Yah Chris, he was my truck dog I took surfing and camping with me. He was at a few of the Sway camps. I took him to Yosemite this summer for his last campout. One day he’s a full on chow hound. The next day he wouldn’t eat a thing. And the next… etc. He’s buried under one of my oaks. Squeezed under some big roots. Hence, he’s becoming an oak tree. We have four more dogs, but none are very good truck dogs. It’s weird coming back to the truck after a surf and not getting mauled by that tongue and nipped by those teeth(part Queensland, Herb). Mike
i might be ridin' up for the sway's event this year.
i'll......ah....be able to make it w/o taking 10 nap breaks this time.
i probably won't have much time ,but i'll make it for a friday thru saturday foresure.
pray for good weather and good will.
hope to see you there.
cancer sucks !!!!!!!
