i didn’t add surfacing agent, how bad is it?
QUICK! Hotcoat right on top of the bad hotcoat. Sand an extra amount on that side…
…the sooner the better to get the best molecular bond, less residual stress, less debris sticking to the work, and the tape will still be good.
GOOD LUCK!
alright i just ruined a pair of shorts and got hit in the forehead with resin but the real hotcoat is on. the bad hotcoat had gone off for about 8-10 min. so instead of 60 grit should i hit with 40 or something? thanks.
Stick with 60, and sand twice, before going to finer grit.
glad you’re still alive.
Now you get to sand it.
Q: you start with 60 grit normally? Try the same just sand the large areas, then go on to the rest of the board, then as things cool down, go back and sand the double hot coat side again with the same grit.
HTH.
So you just hotcoated with lam resin? No big deal. Consider it an “all over” baste. You could have taken your time with the second coat.
Lucky, I was basting the laps on a mal I’ve been meaning to glass for a while and had some lam left over so good thing I logged on today ,thanks swaylocks .
yeah 60 grit ive been using an orbital type of sander (makita 1/3 sheet size). ever since i launched a board off the racks ive been hesitant at using the big polishers even though the guy in the JC vid makes it look easy. The basting still makes me cringe a bit because of the weight, but yea thanks swaylocks.
when i was doing the deck of my bonzer last weekend i got resin in my hair and i had to get it cut out so not i have a mullet, i used to have a nice bowl, oh well my redneck cousins will be proud.
Git er done!!!
sadly those guys are their favorite stand up comics and the watch all the tv shows and own the movies(shaking head with shame)
Chips resin art, another frozen moment.
