Old fashion rocker jig machine?

Found an old style rocker machine for sale, with the router. However without any rocker profiles. What do you think something like that is worth?

I had one in the late 80’s and loved it. Magical machine and I did full production with it. Most new surfboard design software can print rocker profiles so no templates is not even an issue. Blanks are so good now that the profiler is the needed and actually slows down production. Unless you ware using eps block foam or only have access to way oversized blanks like back in the day.

$150

Sorry, after seeing Hucks I realize that I didn’t answer your question. It is worth what you are willing to pay for it. I would pay $500 if it is the steel welded version with deck contour Carriage but Huck is probably right since there is zero market for one.

Would be interesting to see a photo, I’d love to get my hands on one of those, If I were you I’d buy it, I’m sure it will come in handy for you at some point.

Well The guy is asking $900.00 Said the router and bit were worth $300.  At that price it would be a waste of Money.  It is a steal frame .

Artz, you can buy a brand new 1&1/2 to 2 horsepower router for $150. Reconditioned ones for less… with warranties. Bits are about $50. Inless it a three or five horse hog  by Milwaukee or Portercable, the router is worth less than $100. A while back, I got two 2&1/4 HP. Milwaukee routers used for $150 for both. Huck is right on if it is made out of wood but well crafted. They are fairly easy to make. I remember seeing a video on Wayne Lynch and he was using one to rocker a blank. His was/is made of wood.

Sorry, with so little to go on I just picked a number out of a hat.  But based on the unreliability of second hand power tools, and the very very limited market for an oversized / unwieldy  / outdated piece of specialty equipment.

I do think The guy is asking way too much.  On The same craigslist page someone else has hitachi modified planer he is selling with a grit barrel
for $750.00. Shapers out of Australia has one with the barrel for $400.00 Can’t imagine shipping would be all that much.
People can ask whatever they want for used gear Doesn’t mean I have to buy their over priced tools. For a pro shaper Most would simply go with a CNC cutting shop to have their Production boards shaped then finish them off. All The others would be done by hand.

I can’t imagine a production shaper having any use for this, even EPS blocks are hot wired to rocker shape, not cut with a router.  As stated, most blanks are pretty close tolerance.  I ordered an EPS blank and it arrived with rocker already cut, although I suppose one could use a router sled to modify the rocker.  Still don’t see a shaper buying one for that reason, as its easy enough to do in the shaping stage, and if they wanted consistency in a production run, there are better ways to achieve it.

So the most likely customer seems to me like it would be a backyard shaper who wants to play around with it.  But most backyard guys don’t have the motivation, or a big budget, or a lot of space to dedicate for something like that.  In the end, I’m guessing it will be hard to sell, maybe give the guy your number and your best price, and tell him to call you if no one else wants it at his price and he’s willing to meet yours to get rid of it.  I would suggest he sell the router to someone who can use it, and make him an offer on the sled, unless its somehow proprietary.

Shaper Aus sells them new.  Don’t remember the $$$$
