That one can be used for removing the skin from a PU blank. Might be easier to sharpen the blade rather than getting a new one.
Besides skinning a blank, a lower angle block plane is best for most other uses such as taking the stringer down.
One thing with the larger blade planes and spokeshaves, is you need to keep the blade super sharp and make sure to adjust the depth of the blade for the cut you are trying to achieve.
