Old thoughts, new time

My oldest son, since coming to Ca. has logged more time in the water than he can remember. The boards that I had built for him in the past were middle of the road, wide point at center, blah, blah. He has been chomping at the bit for a new board, what are dads for? After a trip to Rincon the day before Thanksgiving, thank you Lord for the bountiful waves! A small day at Big Rock and countless other waves, he has some insight on what he wants in his new board. He is about 6’3", a damn foot taller than me, not really. So he wants a 6’5" x 18 1/2" x 13 3/4" squash, maybe the nose is 12 1/2" - 13", a little wide for the “norm” with the wide spot 6" ahead of center. He wanted this because of his height,he surfs off his front foot a lot more. The blank is an ultra light Clark 6’9" with a 5/8" Costa Rican balsa center stick. The rocker was a melding of the 6’3" rusty tail portion with the 6’8" rusty forward. This gave it about a 3/8" boost in the tail rocker, while keeping the bottom ahead of center flatter before kicking to the same height as the 6’3". When the board is looked at for the plan shape, it is very eighties, almost a mini gun outline. While the rocker on edge is soooooooo varroooom. The next thing is to finish it and see how he likes his input. I’ll give ya’ll an update. Dad
