Older Sureform and blade lengths

Does anyone know the part number for the older surefoams and bladed lengths?

I was watching a Bruce Jones yt shaping video and he mentioned his sureform is an older model, which I believe also has a longer blade than the more modern models.

I am also looking to buy one in good shape if anyone has one. If anyone else has and uses the longer older model, does it work and feel better than the modern ones?

I have a box full of handles, planes and blades. I’ll check tomorrow, as I will be at my shop all day. I think the standard is 10”. There is a longer blade that goes on the plane with the horizontal handle. A lot of the old pros took the vertical handle off using the plane with no handle. I’ll take a look. My original intent was to refinish the wooden handles, repaint and restore.

The longer, older surforms were 14”. I have both 10” and 14”. I prefer the 14”. It seems to work better for me. Not sure why. I have a supply of NOS 14” blades if you find one.

Thanks Tim. I am on the look out for the older 14” sureform and will hit you up if and when I find one.

I found mine in a junk shop in Florida. Only one I’ve seen. Good hunting.

I promised a photo of the Sureforms that I have stashed. I need to clean them up, either strip or paint the handles. Paint the bodies and put new blades on them. I have blades. Just something else to get around to.

I am currently using a couple of Surforms that I took both the handle and knob off. Realizing now that I have extra wooden knobs, I am thinking I will put a knob on each end of one. I learned to use a no knob or handle Surform from Terry Senate. His technique for holding the Surform in the middle and sweeping it across the blank to level or remove planer cuts was something to watch.
