Hi cuttlefish -
It's hard to tell in pics... are the sidebites double foiled? I've done some that way that went pretty good.

Hi John,
Yes they are double foiled.
Here’s an ad for them which has details on the fin as Shapers Aust are now producing them as a DVS signature fin.

Here’s adifferent shot angle of them in the board.

By the way that water running out of the fin box is just that. Not a leak. Put the board away in its cover wet.
Just out of interest I’ve had Versa traction on the deck rather than wax for 2 years now.
Negates any problem with wax melting on the black carbon fibre deck.
This one been my favorite self-made board for two years, it was an early build so i consider myself lucky hitting some numbers that suit me well. To be fair a couple newer boards have been used hardly or not at all as i havent been out but a few times this winter, but this one is always fun at breaks i like in MA, RI, and NC, both in beach breaks and points, from knee high to armsreach overhead. 6’4", 16 1/2 n, 22, 15 1/2t, ten inches across diamond tail, a little bump at the keels, i think the keels i made were closer to half inch than 3/8 thick, sharp edge tail, also square profile and thin tail, kinda straight outline towards the end there, not consciously designed that way but i sure see it now. board 3" thick, 1/4" corecell over one pound eps, no vent but no probs. 3 1/4" nose rocker 2" tail rocker. Totally flat bottom, medium rails. A little heavy for its size, but it glides beautifully and connects sections where my shortboard would stall. Very smooth ride but i want more length and stability the couple times i tried it in more than a couple feet overhead. Im 6’1", 180-190 lb.
no pics unfortunately, but the board that had been my go to for the widest range of conditions is an old 5'11 x 19 x 2.5 mod/semi fish. I ride it generally with MR twinnies and a small trailing fin up to around head high. It has enough float and is pretty flat rockered to handle as small as 1ft, with a bigger back fin I have ridden it in up to 8 ft. although it was at it's limit there. I am 5'9.5 and 85kg.
That said, generally I dont ride this board as much as my 5'8" x 20 x 2.75 quad, which handles up to around 4 ft. As it doesnt get much bigger than that too often, but the 5"11 definately handles a wider range of conditions.
