one last ? for the fin box....

i am about to install my first fin box…i still have one final thought… should the hole be larger than the fin box? or will the router naturally make it a little larger??

Teddy - The router will make the hole exactly where you cut it. The hole should be slightly larger than the box to accommodate a couple patches of cloth inside the hole. The router should be controlled with the aid of a special jig. The depth of your cut is just as critical - too far and you’ve gone through the board! Make sure you have the bit set at the correct depth. I’ve done plenty by hand (no router) by scoring through the glass with a blade and chiseling out the foam and stringer. Either way, you must be careful. Try checking the archives - several people have posted details on this procedure.
