Hey everyone. I’ve been lazily looking for a beat up longboard off Craigslist that I could spruce up and ride for a week or so now. Something to mess around on, maybe try my hand at noseriding. This one in the South Bay caught my eye, but I am at a loss as to what it was shaped for or how it will ride. I looked through sways, and the closest match I could come up with would be something like a mailbu chip. Or even a full on gun shape. Obviously not much nose riding to be done on it with such a pointy nose, however, I am still intrigued.
Shaped by Steve Swan in SD. Board comes in at 10’2 x 23 x ?. Fin needs to be reglassed, and a ding repaired.

Looks like something along the Skip Frye/Dennis Choate/ Mark Andreini vein. If the rocker and bottom are right…it might be fun.

Thanks Roger. What bottom and rocker should I be looking for? Here is another shot, you can kind of get a gist of what the board is working with.

Just to round out this board a little more for anyone scanning the archives- I checked it out yesterday, and the thing was pretty impressive to look at and feel. Shaped 25 years ago, light for its size, the board had (what Im assuming was) generous nose and tail rocker, with the thickest rails I’ve ever seen at midpoint. Must have been 4’’ thick atleast. Thinnish nose, thinnish tail. Board was bellied from nose till it hit vee in the tail. Rails were 50/50. Most likely a gun, but it looked pretty inviting to ride. Just a straight shot speed machine…
Here is a picture of the rocker:

I am used to rocker like this ±…but I think with that length, it needs what it has. If the price is right buy it, fix it, and ride it and report back! I think it could be fun in all size waves it ought to catch waves with ease! Anybody know of the shaper???

I googled Steve Swan…if it is the same guy, he been shaping since 1957!!
Proneman- same guy in that video as per the sellers info.
Still up in the air on purchasing it. Not expensive at all, but the board definitely needs to be rehabed a bit before it gets rideable again. If it’s still available after midweek I may jump on it. I just dont get to ride a lot of lined up surf, and I can easily image this thing going into warp speed down the line the minute it gets any encouragement from the wave.
