Hey just wanted to get a feel on who everyone feels are truly the top 10 surfboard manufactuers in the U.S. Please respond with your top 10 in order from 1 to 10. Thanks! Curious, Brian
…Not necessarily in this order, here’s my guest-a-mate: Rusty,Merrick,Lost,Steward,Becker,Harbour,TC,DocRx,JC,AND the rest are tied for 10th place.Herb
Top 10 in terms of what? Board quality, board production, etc…
Here are some manufacturers Id buy a board from if I didnt shape my own. Not in any specific order. Donald Takayama Hawaiian Pro Designs, Tyler Surfboards, Hobie (Terry Martin), Bill Hamilton, Cooperfish Surfboards, Joel Tudor Surfboards, Inter Island Surfboards (Sparky), Jim Phillips Skip Frye, Bob Cooper- Blue Machine.
Define “top”.
My opinion in alphabetical order. 1. ASD Surfboards aka Bob Miller Shapes. 2. Christenson Surfboards. 3. Cooperfish Surfboards. 4. Joel Tudor Surfboards. 5. Mobley Surfboards. 6. Steve Brom Surfboards. 7. Surf Prescriptions Surfboards. 8. Tyler Surfboards. 9. Velzy Surfboards. 10. Wegener Surfboards.
Top 4 without a doubt, in no paticular order: 1. Boards sold at Costco and Sam’s Club. 2. All soft non-fiberglass boards, with big seams. 3. “Sears Best”, Ted Williams model. 4. Boards made by a large chain store surf shop that rhyme with “Don Juan”.
Yo Grant did Ted Williams really have a model? I remember Sears selling popouts.I have been buying old Sears catalogs on Ebay lately…some kind of weird nostalgia thing I guess.
Naw, Sears never had a Ted Williams approved model, but it would have been funny if they did. It could have been displayed right next to the outdoor “water fun” equipment and the “slip & slides”. How about an “Eddie Bauer edition” longboard?..I guarantee that if one is ever made, there will be some Ford Expedition owners that will pay $800+ for it!
I would say HIC (Arakawa), Merrick, …wouldn’t want anything else unless it was shaped by NOODLE!!!
Lol that’s funny as hell, yeah i got me one of them there things…yeah right lol That would be pretty swank if they sold boards at sears or made an eddie bauer edition. Its true though, that all the ignorant people in the world would buy it for around $800. Oh well, if i’m ever short on cash i’ll make some boards put eddie bauer on it and sell it at a local sears. Thanks for the idea! Peace, Brian
Eddie Bauer? Stewart? What’s the difference? Same people would be buying the boards. Sluggo
Yea Sluggo and they would all come off the same shaping machine.
