Im thinking about planing a trip to Thailand - any suggestions for dive operators and surf spots or decent surf/dive shops where I can find a job to pay for the holiday? any places to stay away from?

Its been a while, but I had a great trip up to the Similan Is. (Andaman Sea) with a company called Fantasea Divers out of Phuket, Thailand. DM / owner was a 4th-gen East Indies Dutchman named Jeroen. First class trip at a 3rd class price. You know the deal - an old slow boat and you fish for your dinner, but the beer is cold and the visibility (of whale sharks & mantas etc.) is over 100’. That’s the only trip where I really felt like I was getting everything the rich folks get

Hey riffraff. Like benny has been a while since i was there so unsure as how the scene has changed but spent three weeks diving in thailand (that’s how good the prices are) a couple years ago. Spent the whole time on Koh Tao which is down by Koh samui. Stayed in a place called Taa Toh lagoon http://www.taatohdivers.com/ worked really well for us. not much surf there though but worth a trip if you are in that part of the world!
p.s if you can try to and coincide with a full moon! you’ll know when you get there.

The price per dive changed depending on how many you did with them but i think it worked out at about 10-15Euros (15-20USD) per dive. But as i said before that was a couple of years ago i don’t know how the situation has changed since then. Just fire them an email!
