In 1992, 29,000 rubber ducks (and frogs and turtles) were lost in the middle of the Pacific, from the deck of a container ship outbound from China. Opportunistic scientists (and the merely curious) have been following their progress since, tracking major oceanic currents in the process. As many as 10,000 may be headed for beaches in Cornwall and SW England this summer:
