Padlle/ Surf/ Tandem Boards

Does anyone make one that can do all three? I want a board that I can do paddles on along beach breaks, catch a few waves, and occasionaly throw a chick on. 11 feet, give or take. Thick. Clean outline. Anyone? Thanks.

Joel:

This one might work. Check it out and search: Swaylocks Inspired SUP #2 by Uncle D. Of course it’s hard to make a board work well doing for all three activities!

Aloha,

D

Yeah thanks. A board that does all three well is tough to find. I’m thinking surfing first, paddling second and tandem third as far a the design goes.

PM John Mellor and ask for the Chamberlain line details…

Big yellow board, 10’10", 28" wide. Like a big ugly in some ways, super stable for SUP, very good in big overhead stuff, noserides like a demon and surfs tandem with my kids beautifully. Blank is a 10’8" Homeblown with a 3" insert between 2 stringers. Gets very strange looks when going in the water, but people soon amazed at how agile it is. Just a thought for you to consider

combined weight of riders is primary criterion.

If for exzmple thou art a lunker of 215lbs

the 11’er must have floatation

King Mac offers a monstro polyurethane blank in a 12’5" length…

Fiberglass Hawaii also had some polyurethane big boys (12’ ?) last time I was in. Some of them had a center insert to increase width.

Walker makes a big slab that is anything but close tolerance.

Several options in EPS including slicing your own. White Hot and Segway immediately come to mind.

I’m not sure you will find that any SUP or tandem makes a satisfactory paddle board. One is narrow, the other is wide. Here is my shot at a combo:

11 ft, by 25 inches. 4.5 inches thick. Surfs well. Paddles well (I won a paddle race and beat some unlimited, mostly because I swim Masters). But I could not stand up paddle it without a skyhook. Needs to be not less than 28 inches for me to SUP.

under twenty ?ight

you just need to be higher skilled.
