Paging Drewtang...

Hey drew, just as promised: I went to the JEC composites show in Paris this morning (and drove back home this afternoon). 1600 KM in two days, not bad…

Well, I’m gonna post photos of your board, but let’s start at the start…

Leaving Guéthary yesterday in the morning, heading to Paris. Ahead of me on the freeway is a 5 or 6 trailers convoy, HUGE trailers like those:

Printed on the back of those monster trucks is this logo:

I begin to chuckle by myself, picturing Mike Daniel heading to Paris with hundreds of “Coils” … My camera was in the back of the van so I couldn’t take any photos. I picked up the photos above on their website. Just intending to make you laugh, Mike…

OK, so I met my daughter in paris, had dinner with her and a few friends, then went to sleep. This morning, I went to the Porte de Versailles where the Parc des Expositions is hosting the JEC international composites show. Met with Jean-Marc (old friend of mine, shaperoom.net’s webmaster) and we started looking around for things of interest in this huge show. First stop at the Sicomin booth (a french company specializing in epoxy systems) that we both wanted to check. Surprise: on the very same booth is the Amorim Cork company and here is Drew’s board:

Another one, with Jean-Marc talking business with the Amorim guy in the background:

Well, to make a long tour of the show short, it’s very interesting but exhibitors are clearly aiming at bigger markets than small surfboards shapers… Most of them are much more into aerospace and such… What’s funny, though, is that even “big” companies  are showing surfboards (or photos of surfboards) in their booths… Go figure…

A few random photos (on many booths, people refused having photos taken, as if I was spying or something…):

LOL. I thought Kirk told those guys not to put any logos on our European delivery trucks.

Sweet!! Thanks for taking some pics for me. Wish I could have been there.

woohoo aerospace composites! Ahem, I mean, sweet sticks Drew!
