Just wanted to see the correct method for applying resin over paint.
I typically use Montana gold acrylic and spray a light coat then apply gloss coat.
However I have seen people laminating cloth over paint.
Wouldn’t that be prone to delam over time?
What is correct method?
Glass shops have been laminating cloth and resin over painted foam forever. Use flat Acrylic latex. Nothing shiny. Paint on foam usually takes two coats to make it look right. You can also paint a sanded hotcoat and gloss over it. Scuff the paint slightly with a 3M Maroon pad. Wipe dust free with a tack cloth and gloss as normal. I don’t buy special paints like you described. I buy flat interior house paint at Home Depot, Lowe’s or Sherwin-Williams. Tempra paints like you can buy in the Craft department at Walmart work well also.
