Painting EPS Foam

I have read a bunch of older posts on painting EPS foam and want to make sure what was recommended 8 years ago is still the best practice.
My plan is to paint a board one whole color.

  • Spackle and sand board
  • Use a good Acrylic Paint
  • Mix 1:1:1 (Paint:Water:Acrylic Floor Finish) - Futures Floor Finish now seems to be Pledge Floor Care
  • Spray or Roll on the board
Any other tips or better ways to do this would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds good to me. I only did 2 boards so far with a foam stain and I just squeegeed the color directly on the blank. No mixing, no spackle, worked fine. Good tape is important though, if you need to tape an area where you don’t want any color. Did some test panels beforehand. I used a couple of colors on EPS, so you might have to me more cautious if you want to color the whole board in one color.
