Painting over the lam

Lots of doubts all around dudes!!!

Can i do a paint job over the lamination??!? With pigmented resin over it?!?! Or do i have to apply yhe hotcoat and only then i paint whatever i want over the sanded hotcoat?!?!?

Thanks again

as long as its water based paint you should be fine, the worst thing that could happen is it could run or crack but if you use acrylic or tempra should be all good. the colored resin might get alittle streaky.

And over the hotcoat?!? Probably i’ll will get a cleaner trace, imagine for drawing lines, will i?? In this case i’ll have to do a hotcoat, no?

Nah, are you using tracing paper? If you are draw on the oppisite side tracing paper around the lines with a soft pencil like 6B or 9B and tape the paper to the board and draw over the lines with a ballpoint blue or red…this way you can see where you’ve been it should trace really well. I wouldn’t worry about the weave causing it to not trace well, you’ll get a transfer and it will look nice under the hot coat and will be protected. If you really want it on the hot coat do two hot coats, i usually have to do two hot coats anyways.

calm down its not open heart surgery…

paint over the hotcoat. otherwise the weave is still giving texture, and lam resin is sticky.
