Parabolic/Rail Stringer Buckle Repair

Hey All,

Ive been a Swaylurker for awhile now soaking up all the info I can in hopes of diving in and shaping my own boards at some point and figured Id solicit some advice from you all in regards to a board repair (Ive done a forum search but wanted to get some additional advice since this situation is kind of unusual).

I have a new SUP (production unfortunately, epoxy sandwich construction) that I had out in waves 3-4 times before it buckled in waist to chest high surf. Cracks on both rails connecting to a 3/4" wide buckle of glass on the bottom. Needless to say im extremely bummed at the prospect of having this board repaired. I havent torn into it yet (was last weekend) but in some preliminary investigation it looks like it has wood (balsa?) rail stringers that are cracked (along with the glass).

I was thinking of grinding out 1.5" on either side of the buckle, cracks and then feathering another 3" on each side from grind to finish but am stumped as to what to do with the rails and any sandwich damage I encounter in the board. Inject urethane glue for the rails and just glass over any sandwich damage?

Im a little hesitant to dive in as I dont have much ding repair experience.

Thanks in advance for help/suggestions.

Thanks Hiroprotagonist that is a great start. Still unsure of how to approach the rail stringers…anyone?
