Patagonia Surf Store Opens

I went by today and check it out. Great shop. More of a ocean shop than a surfshop. They’ve got paddleboards, handboards, spearguns, freedive fins, all kinds of good stuff. The boards are lightweight but seem strong. The Octopus model and another model I checked out were 2x 4oz tops with 3x 4oz bottoms! I seem to remember someone here saying the flex of a board is determined more on the underside. Is this correct?

I’ve got more pics and a review on 70…

Does anyone know what fin system they are using and the availability of fins for them? It wasn’t futures and didn’t look like lockbox… the fin slots went all the way through the board.

I think Patagonia uses RedX fin boxes.

Thanks Robin, I’m looking up the fin options now. I guess I might as well have a board with boxes by each fin manufacturer.

Sorry to bump this thread up after it died, but I just went back to the store to look over a board again, and realized that the glass schedual is 3x 4oz on TOP 2x on bottom, which makes MUCH more sense. Sorry!

Nice write up. I saw those malloys hanging around while passing by on my way to work. Have not yet gone inside the store yet. Thanks again for that fish riding experience at oside.

Josh, right? That was great swapping boards. That Tim Bessell quad fish was fantastic!
