Payment for shape, lam, sanding??

Hey,

I’m new to the site. I searched through the archives but am still kind of stumped.

I’m starting up a small surf shop in Mexico and am trying to work out payment for my glasser that makes sense for us both. I know it can be a touchy subject because many say glasser get paid too little but could anyone fire some estimates at me about how much glassers get paid for each l am, sanding job? Also about how much for the shape and polish?

I know how much companies charge but I am down here without any glassers to ask… Thanks for the replies if you can get em out. Trying to keep all of us earning our fair share.

i dont work in the industry but…

i would say about $100 for a shaped blank

$160-$175 for a sanded finish glass job including plastic fin system. (+50 for longboard)

$20-$30 extra for basic color

$30+ for gloss and polish

(prices are materials and labor)

hopefully someone who works in a factory will give you a better recipe…

thanks grasshopper, that gives me some kind of an idea. I am hoping someone can tell me how much of that money would go to the person doing the work (just the labor). We´ll see if there are any more responses… Thanks again.
