Anyway the young neighbor surfin dude was pretty cool this year in the line-up and stuff on the beach through summer. His beat up duct taped Tokoro tail (seriously filled with d tape, bout 2 1/2, 3" rail to rails worth) warrants a new board. He was always smilin so I want to give him a present.
Problem is I dont follow shortboards much. I ride wide and or fat and or long so I know what I like but how bout the kid? He is about 5’8-9 but only weighs bout 110 or 20 pounds probably.
I have that aps software but shortboards uh uh.
I can’t model off the Tokoro cuz he will know. I could just pick a flavor from the web and ghost an outline but cmon guys. I don’t feel like copying.
Ive been doin 1# eps w perimeter rail experiments using paulownia and bamboo.
I was going to vac bag him a paulownia over 1#, gettin any foam other than 1# eps is a real hassle for me here in jp.
I will post a pic of the wood after I dig it up. Im stoked about my table saw slicin through it like butter, will make perfect deck and bottom skins! Rails too!
Yeah thats a pretty cool move giving the kid next door a board. When I was younger this guy i knew from down the street used to take me surfing, but i didnt have money to buy a wetsuit or decent board. When I broke the fin off of my $25 pos board he gave me his used but nice thruster and bought himself a new one. Also gave me a wetsuit. Probably two of the best gifts I have ever received. I doubt I would still be surfing if it werent for his generosity. I hope that sometime soon I am in the position where I can do that for somebody.
One thing that impressed me was even though he could surf and his friends were just learning, he stayed with them loanin out his board till they could stand.
Yeah I was given a loaner once too a while back when I was boardless after a move and agree it is a special gift to a surfer.
