I have just been informed by my resin and glass supplier that the price of pe resin has dropped, they were supplying it to me at Aus$120/pail and dropped it to $100 and aerialite 4oz at $4.70/m to $4.00.
With the prices of oil and related products this seems very strange.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?
Thoughts,comments or theories?

Not sure about the prices but RR epoxy should be available on the gold coast right now.

I don’t have any hard facts, but economies of scale could be a factor. Transportation logistics has got to be a big piece of the delivered product price. The big surfboard manufacturers are the ones driving the production and shipping schedules and pricing; sales to the “little guy” are cake frosting, although a smart supplier will treat a small customer with consideration and respect. It’s possible that the continuing shift in production to Australia and Asia could result in prices trending permanently lower there, and higher where the consumption is declining. It’s also possible that some industry giant just ordered 1000T of resin and 12 miles of cloth, and the prices you were quoted are for the excess production off that order and therefore temporary.
