Aloha, Just acquired this specimen from a guy in Vero Beach, FL. Wondering if anyone can help as to its age/origin. Seen quite a few of these but never one this pretty with a glassed in fin or nose quite like this one. Any help/expretise would be greatly appreceiated. Thoughts?
Mahalo SammyA! Was wondering what the #0904 is all about and if it holds any significance as to when/where/who… Can I safely assume that that signature is authentic and that Mr. Edwards himself shaped it? Appreciate your response,
I knew I was going down a slippery slope as soon as I went with the word “assume”! Thanks for your response. While I’m certainly no shaper, I have spent a long enough time in the sport and on this website to realize the stature of both yourself and SammyA. Your responses are both very much appreicated.
Bill, the signature on the lam is most likely a reproduction of the original Edwards Model logo. As we all know, people’s signatures change over time. I’d be inclined to think that’s really Phil’s sig near the stringer. I’d also be surprised if he signed boards he did not shape, or allowed someone else to forge his sig on a board. If it had no sig at all, then it would be a different story.
bigmar, the serial number may have significance at all. Many do not.
