Photograph Inlay with Tinted Resin(this time with photos!)

These are two boards my partner and i have finished recently. They have a photograph inlayed underneath the fiberglass and use tinted resins to add color. This site was a great help with the archives and forum. Thanks

This is a 6’10" for overhead to double overhead waves. The photograph on the bottom is black and white and the color was added with tinted resin in the lam and hotcoat.

This board is a 7’6" I shaped for my girlfriend to take to Costa Rica, it rides great. The photograph on the bottom is color and tinted resin was used in the lam to give an overall gold hue to it. Both photographs were taken with a large format camera by melissa levine, my girlfriend.

I’m looking to make more boards like these this summer, check out my post in the marketplace if you are interested and working together.

those boards look so siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick. are those photos printed on rice paper? where did you print the photos that big? really that is one of the coolest looking designs i have seen on a surfboard. ‘art in motion’

The photos are printed on silk with a large scale inkjet printer. Theres a guy we found in Rhode Island that does comission; not cheap. Then the silk is lamed the same way a cloth inlay is. Then the resin is used to color the photo.
