OK, I see the possible problem now.
The tail is seemingly narrow, especially compared to the nose.
Thought we decided well over 18 " tail…and that tail looks normal thickness…normal for a 160 lbs surfer!
Please make the next one wider and thicker. I think one inch of width is equal to a little more than 8" of length, so width and thickness is more important for float than pure length.
Pic is an optical illusion - tail is 17" - taken from the front not the side. I’ll get it vertical and post some more pics…

Did you make that board? If you did it’s very nice. Wow! Your going to take a trip to Hawaii in June. Where are you planning on surfing? Looks like a nice board for Queens and canoes. Can’t wait till I move home. Have fun!
I used to live on Maui and Oahu, my wife on Oahu. We go back every summer with our son, 12-years old now. We have everything in place to move back but my son doesn’t want to lose his friends, so…yeah, Queens, canoes, you know where we’ll be! Endless Summer from sunrise to sunset.
Yes I made that board. I banged it out in 4-days. The first was last month - a 6’0" fish. I’ll post pics soon after ding repair is pau hana. Next is the 9’0" tanker!
I used to shape and glass in the late 60’s and early 70’s in my Rivera garage (in high school and a great view of the city) along with the 'ole Santa Barbara bunch - Greenough, Renny, and a host of other Santa Barbarians that were outta control. Quit surfing for 30-years. Last year my son wanted me to teach him how to surf and to promise to make him a board this year. I also got back on a board and about the 3rd wave, stood up! Talk about a surreal experience. Surfing with my son is da kine.
I also have my new surfboard company in place when the move to aloha-land happens. I have my son and all his friends designing the web site. Be up and running in a couple of weeks : shakabrahsurfboards.com
We have three boards to choose from: the Fish (hummu-hummu?), the Wavecatcher, and the Big Kahuna. Trying to design a gun for smaller waves - the Wikiwiki.

Wow, sounds great! I myself am a local boy from Oahu. My dad’s house out in Hawaii Kai. I wanted to live closer to the beach and my friends so I moved to Waikiki. In back of the Hyatt is Koa street. There’s a surf shop called Koa Board Sports on the second floor of an apartment building with an Ezigiku Japanese resturant below. I used to live there. That would be one place that many of the locals purchase their boards from. Most of the small shops are pretty much connected. So if you could get in with thoughs guys maybe you could get some idea’s about sales and what types of boards most people are buying. Just and idea. If you made a small surfshop in Waikiki I’m sure most of your clients will be buying longboards. Fact is pretty good money can be made from longboard sales. I know lot’s of people including myself who buy boards every other month. I’m sure it will take a little time to get a following unless you are trying to sell boards to tourists. I’ve been living in Osaka Japan for 3 1/2 years. I myself will be moving back to the islands with in the next couple of years. Now just saving money. I can’t wait to teach my son to surf he’s 2 1/2 now. Probably wait to get back home.
Peace,
