That’s cool, Mark! What do you think about having an MVG shaped like a little Y element or a little V about the same scale as the MVGs? Tougher to manufacture, huh? But more energetic?
On the other hand, what do you and Herb think about roughening the leading edge or rather the entire leading side of your fin foils for enhanced Coanda? (I once asked a fin guy and he seemed to respond in the affirmative to at least a breath or two of fine sanding of that roundy bit of the foil.) How about rounding the leading edge of the flat side a bit too?
alot of research and hands on experimenting on both Mark and Herb’s fin designs lead up to those sepcific designs.
Even with their miniscule size they do exactly what they were intended to do…
which is to remove the dirty water impact of the fin and clean up it’s relationship with the water around it. I think the key was to keep them small so all they do is change the turbulence and not act as a fin letting the fin do the job it was intended to do.
Also some folks like Chandler spend a great amount of time analyzing the actual fin design to allow the perfect release of power off the shape to reduce cavitation and loss of purpose.
The overall effect should be a smoother and less choppy ride.
