Pigmented EPS sealing

Hey guys

Read through the archive and not much info on this.

I want to seal a shaped EPS blank and I am leaning towards epoxy/microbaloon mix.

I am going with a plain white board.

If I seal with just epoxy/microbaloon Im thinking I will get an uneven texture due to differnt thicknesses of resin over the blank.

ie: where it fills in the voids.

I am thinking of mixing some white pigment into the sealing mix to give it a uniform finish before I do a clear lamination.

Has anyone done this and what were the results??

Cheers

I did that on the last board I did then did a tint over the top

came out nice and even

it was eps and epoxy

How did it look after the sealing??

Would it be nice and even with a clear lam??

Cheers

it would be good with a clear coat

heres the board

NICE !!!

I did this before. Check out: http://www.swaylocks.com/forum/gforum.cgi?post=279418;search_string=SUP;guest=20836690#279418. It does save a few steps, helps the blank from turning yellow and you can lam with clear. The down side is that it does make the board heavier.

I hope this helps.

Hey Uncle D

Nice board.

Sounds like it seals pretty well.

How much heavier do you think it makes it ???

Cheers

If you want to seal it and keep the weight down ,if the blank is finished off fine then give it a spray seal with some white celling paint with about 30 % water ,if the blank is in need of some fine filling use some shelly’s spack filler thinned out with water and then spray with white ceiling paint when dry , this will give you a very goon bond between the glass and blank with a very white finish ,Ive just done one tonight

In the case of my SUP, perhaps about a pound heaver compared to FAST and Final speckle.

I dont trust spackle

A pound for SUP.

Big Deal
