i’m looking into a makita 4amp planer with a round bit type blade is that a good style or do i need the kind with two flat type blades?i think the makita goes 1/32 in depth is that ok to because i’ve seen another dewalt 7amp that goes 3/32 but i think it might have the two flat blades .thanks for any info you guys can give!
honestly…you’re overthinking this (still). a planer just needs to plane…all planers plane…that’s why they call them planers. if they didn’t plane, i imagine they’d call them something else.
sure, a deeper cut will reduce the number of passes you’ll need to take (and with that, the time it takes to shape, as well as the wear and tear on planer blades).
i have a dewalt and i like it. hitachi is good, too…clark-modified ones probably still available somewhere. heard some very positive things about a cordless planer in a thread awhile back…do a search and see if you can’t find it…i recall there being some good planer talk in that thread.
