I just got done shaping my first board (will have pictures as soon as I have them developed), one problem I noticed was that when I was using the planer (I have a harbor Freight) that even when I wouldn’t change the depth it would barley cut and then all of a sudden take a deep path out of the board all at the same depth. I held it the same every time, also how do you sand done the stringer without sanding down the foam…It’s a little more raised then the rest of the board
Can’t say for the planer changing depths, is the adjuster loose?
Planers cut convex more than concaves, so check profile of your planer path.
Buy a little 3" long hand finish plane. Use it to skim off the wood on the stringer, with a slight angled cut, set shallow.
thanks I appreciate it
Most of the shapers I watch have modified their hand planes Sole, easing the leading and trailing corner edges by rounding them off.
