I have a Skil 100 (type 4) and a modified Hitachi P20SB planer. A friend of mine has 3d printed an awesome adapter for both the Skil 100, and the Hitachi. They use the same connecting piece, so I am able to switch from planer to planer if I need/want. I just twist the base of the hose, and pull the hose out of the female fitting and attach, turn, and lock the hose into the other planer.
The Hitachi version uses two bearings so the vac hose never gets all twisted up, and it flows/moves easily and free. I have shaped a few boards with this setup and love it
The Skil version uses just one bearing and keeps the hose from twisting. Just shaped my first board with this adapter and its pretty great
I have used a few different (homemade) adapters and ways to keep a hose on the planer, but this is by far the best thing I have ever used
if anyone is interested…

Saw the Hitachi setup. I have the original Clark Foam Hitachi, and I am interested in getting a better vac attachment. I’m not sure what the options mean, like where it says unmodified, V1, V2. I have to see what the diameter of the hose is, but I think it is 1.75 inches.
Does your clark foam hitachi have a vac attachment of any type? I think the clark foam planers came with a black plate with a rotating 90 degree elbow piece that attaches to a hose. If you have this then all you have to do is measure the distance between the bottom two screws that hold the plate in place…this will determine if you need the v1 or v2.
If your planer did not come with any type of vac attachment/adapter, then you just need the unmodified option. Hope that helps
Yes, it has the vac attachment that rotates. I use a crappy adapter I made that sticks into that.
I’ll measure it. What are the differences between V1 and V2? Once I know which one to order, I can go online and order it.
Thanks for you help.
You guys knocked it out of the park with that one.
